Student Confidence in Speaking About Third-Level Tuition

You may have recently seen us, #FeesAndDegrees interviewing students on their opinions involving third-level education and tuition. We’ve been listening to you, and this is what you had to say.
“Of course, it’s not good. We can’t afford it… Who am I to say, really? Should it be free? Should it not be free? I don’t know…” Ronan, DCU student in applied physics.
Ronan, and many others have brought up a disconcerting point. You do know. This is your time to have an opinion and take a position. Your government wants to know what you want. Governmental systems are set up in a manner which asks the public, “How can we help, you?” When it becomes the reverse, “How can you help, us” the public ought to be concerned.
So, answer the first question, “How can we help you with third-level tuition?”
Organizations want to know what you want. The point isn’t to engage in debate, it isn’t to sell a concept… The point is to remind you, the student, a product of a financial system at work, you’re the one with the answers.
Remember this. And, learn where you fit into the equation. Remain involved in the conversation. With your voice missing, another will take its place. Be sure to agree with that filler.
